The Tap Density Tester measures the tapped and bulk density of powders by mechanically tapping a measuring cylinder a defined number of times, supporting both USP 1 and USP 2 tapping protocols in a single instrument.
How It Works
A powder-filled measuring cylinder (10 ml, 100 ml or 250 ml) is mounted on the instrument, which drives a simultaneous rotating and tapping motion to ensure an evenly packed powder surface at every stroke. The unit supports USP 1 conditions (300 taps per minute, 14 mm ± 2 mm stroke height) and USP 2 conditions (250 taps per minute, 3 mm ± 0.3 mm stroke height), with online validation of strokes per minute. A 24 x 2 character LCD displays live status, and the instrument calculates and prints results such as tapped density, Compressibility Index and Hausner Ratio once the test cycle completes.
