Semi Auto Pendulum Impact Tester Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-STE-10617
The Semi Auto Pendulum Impact Tester is a Charpy-type impact testing machine used to determine the notch toughness of metallic materials by measuring the energy absorbed during fracture of a standard notched specimen.
How It Works
A pendulum hammer of known mass is raised to a set starting angle and released to swing down and strike a notched specimen mounted horizontally across two supports; the specimen fractures, and the pendulum continues its swing to a reduced height on the far side. The difference between the pendulum's starting and rising heights (read via a semi-automatic dial or digital display) gives the energy absorbed in fracturing the specimen — the Charpy impact value, a direct measure of the material's notch toughness and resistance to brittle fracture.
Technical Specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Test Method | Charpy V-notch / U-notch impact test |
| Standard Specimen Size | 10 x 10 x 55 mm |
| Reading | Semi-automatic dial / digital display of absorbed energy |
| Pendulum Type | Swinging hammer, gravity-driven |
Applications
Charpy impact testing is governed by ASTM E23: Standard Test Methods for Notched Bar Impact Testing of Metallic Materials, ISO 148-1: Metallic materials — Charpy pendulum impact test, and IS 1757: Method for Charpy Impact Test (V-Notch) for Metallic Materials. It is used to verify the toughness of structural and reinforcement steels, particularly their resistance to brittle failure at service or low temperatures, complementing the tensile and bend testing carried out on the other machines in this range.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Charpy impact test measure?
It measures the energy absorbed by a notched specimen when fractured by a swinging pendulum hammer, indicating the material’s notch toughness and resistance to brittle fracture.
What specimen size does this tester use?
The standard Charpy specimen is 10 x 10 x 55 mm, notched per the applicable standard.
Which standards govern Charpy impact testing?
ASTM E23, ISO 148-1, and IS 1757 are the primary standards for Charpy V-notch impact testing of metallic materials.
