Penetrometer Cooling Bath Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-BATE-10340
The Penetrometer Cooling Bath from Tvet Equipments maintains bituminous test specimens at a constant, closely controlled temperature immediately before penetration testing, so results are not skewed by a sample that has warmed or cooled between preparation and testing.
How It Works
Specimens are immersed in a water bath fitted with heating elements and a cooling coil that can be connected to a mains water supply. The two work in balance: the heater raises the bath toward the set point while the cooling coil, drawing minimal water, offsets any overshoot, holding the bath at a steady temperature (typically 25 °C, adjustable from 15-25 °C) for the duration required before the specimen is transferred to the penetrometer.

Applications
The cooling bath is used ahead of penetration testing of bituminous materials under ASTM D5 / IS 1203, both of which specify a controlled 25 °C water bath for conditioning bitumen specimens before the penetration needle test. It is standard equipment in asphalt binder QC labs, road construction testing laboratories, and civil engineering institutions running bitumen grading coursework.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why is a cooling bath needed for penetration testing?
Standards such as ASTM D5 and IS 1203 require the bitumen specimen to be held at a precise 25 °C before testing, since penetration depth is highly sensitive to temperature; the bath maintains this set point reliably.
Q2. Does the bath need a continuous water connection?
Yes, the cooling coil is designed to connect to a mains water line, and it operates with minimum water consumption while offsetting the heating element's output.
Q3. What temperature range can be set?
The bath can be set anywhere between 15 °C and 25 °C, covering the range typically specified for bitumen penetration and related conditioning tests.
