The Transverse Deformation Jig from Tvet Equipments is a three-point bending fixture for measuring the transverse deformation of cementitious tile adhesives and grouts to EN 12002. The result shows how far a cured strip of adhesive can bend before it breaks, which is how deformable (S1) and highly deformable (S2) adhesives are classified under EN 12004-1.
How It Works
A thin strip of the adhesive or grout is cast in a template and cured. In EN 12002 the strip is 300 mm long, 45 mm wide and 3 mm thick. The strip is placed on two cylindrical supports 200 mm apart in the jig, and a central anvil loads it at 2 mm/min until it fails. The deflection at failure, in millimetres, is the transverse deformation.
