How It Works
A prepared bed of cement of known mass and porosity is packed into the permeability cell, and air is drawn through the compacted bed at a controlled rate using a manometer-linked aspirator. The time taken for air to pass through the bed is measured, and combined with the bed's porosity and the air's viscosity, this is used to calculate the cement's specific surface area in cm²/g, following the standard calibration and calculation procedure.
